Is spam possible on Twitter? I realize I have "follow me" on my sidebar, but I've had some odd things pop up lately. Like Friday, when someone with a picture of a full-blown crotch shot wanted to follow me. (um...BLOCK!)
And this morning, I had a string of email announcements about 1-2 minutes apart with random people wanting to follow me. NINE of them! They each had 20-something followers and were following people in the low 300s...it just seemed odd that they were all so similar, then obviously the red flag went up when there were 9 in a row within 20 minutes. I ended up blocking them all, so if one of them was YOU, please email me and I'll unblock you. It just freaked me out a bit because I'm not all that interesting and the people who follow me should probably be friends or blog readers, you know?
I'm not sure I'm into this whole Twitter thing. I don't have a Blackberry, so I only update it when I have something pressing I need to get out that doesn't belong in a blog post. Some of the people I follow tweet (is that the right word?) so much that they bury the thoughts from friends that I'm actually interested in reading. It's just all a bit much. So we'll see how long I last on Twitter...

Yeah, twitter is kind of lame I have found out. I have some RANDOM people trying to follow me. Seems like a lot of them are strange buiness owners or something that are trying to promote thier website or what not.
I follow this one gal that tweets seriously 30 times a day. Insane.
I would much rather just read "status updates" of facebook friends. Much more exciting!
I actually really enjoy twitter and found a lot of other moms on there. Their twitter accounts have also led me to their blogs which in turn has led to internet/blog friendships. One thing I could suggest that might help is to go into your settings and check the box to protect your updates. Then random people couldn't automatically follow you. I do occasionally get the same kind of followers...it usually will happen after updating my status. I just block them if they request me. It doesn't happen everyday...but usually when it does I get 4 or 5 at a time. Anyway.. I guess that's just my 2 cents :) :)
Yeah, I haven't really figured out the whole Twitter thing. I have to agree with Tracey on this one. I've seen folks post things like what they are having for breakfast that morning. Really? Do I need to know that? I'm not sure that I'm into Twitter.
