We had our 3D ultrasound today and our baby boy looks so cute and healthy already! Mike's ready to induce labor to get this show on the road. Sure - why not? Technology can help his lungs and brain continue to develop normally, right? :)
(Does anyone else notice that he's fashionably wearing his umbilical cord like a man-shawl?) The kids didn't come with us this morning, but I showed them the 7 minute DVD when we got home. They were thrilled and captivated for all of 2 minutes...it's a good thing they were playing and swimming this morning instead of waiting around for an hour and a half for 2 minutes of excitement! I'm off to take a nap - I'm sugar crashing after my lovely 50g sugar drink from the glucose test this morning. Wow, that was quite the buzz!

how exciting! :) i love the whole 3D ultrasound thing! so cool and high tech, lol! :)
WOW is he gorgeous! In one of the pix he even looks like Ryan. :-)
I remember Claudia's baby, Dylan at 26 weeks, tiny but fully formed, and back then they said that at 28 weeks baby's are 75% viable. So I went online to read for myself, and holy moly. Now they say that at 27 weeks the baby is 90% viable. 90%!! Your little pumpkin is just adorable, Katie, can't wait to just breathe him in.
God is so good, ever the miracle worker.
BTW - Is this going to be the first Roose-baby with HAIR!?!
Those 3D ultrasounds are just amazing! Wish I had gotten one!
Quick question...what font are you using for the date on that picture?
Chandy - the font for the date is "Andy" which I think came with MS Word. If not, you can probably download it from fonts.com.
I am just an casual reader who reads your blog as often as I can. I happened across your blog from another and became hooked.
While I know that Mike was not serious and it was meant as a joke, the induced labor and technology making a baby viable kind of stung a little. You see, my daughter was born at 30 weeks due me experiencing Pre-Eclampsia and the HELLP syndrome. Before I taken to surgery, I was visited by a neonatalogist who said not to expect to hear my baby cry and that she may have to be resuscitated. Thankfully, she came out screaming, music too our ears and hearts.
I say this not because I want you to remove the sentence or change the wording. I say this hopefully not making you upset, that is certainly not my intention. I only say this because having gone through what I did and now working with support groups and many other moms who have gone through a similar situation, I felt I needed to bring it up.
Please feel free to delete my comment. Maybe I should have put this is an e-mail instead?
On the news, you often see how the tiniest miracles survive and the advanced in technology, but there are real people and real roller coasters behind the stories.
You are more than welcome to read "Ladybug's" blog for a happy story.
PS
Your miracles are all gorgeous especially the newest. :)
@Ladybug's Mom: I would like to apologize...clearly I was too flippant about the early induction line in my post. My husband's comment came after I mentioned that my cousin was born at 26 weeks and I clearly remember holding him in the palm of my hand when I was 18. It amazes me that he just turned 14 and is perfectly healthy and I mentioned how much technology must have improved since then, so it almost seems like we're (somewhat falsely) "in the clear" if something were to happen and this baby were to come early.
When I said, "Sure, why not?" in my post, I was being completely sarcastic because the thought was so absurd. Reading it through your eyes, I can see how insensitive I must have seemed and for that, I am truly sorry!!!
After seeing my aunt deliver babies at 24, 26 and 28 weeks, I really do understand the roller coaster that families of premies go through. Two of her three sons are still with us, but they are now 14 and 15 years old and amazing boys with no long term side affects of their early births. So as insensitive as I must have seemed, I actually DO have a soft spot for the issue.
I'm so glad your Ladybug is such a wonderful success story. She's beautiful!!!
Katie, his 3D U/S pics turned out really good.
I know what you mean about the U/S video not holding your kids attention very long. We took Cade with us to our first U/S and all he did was look out the window and ask questions about the crane outside.
