December 4-7

Day 4 - Attend "Cookies and Milk with Santa" night at Ryan's school. This is where Ryan asked me (in a loud voice...repeatedly) "Mommy, Santa's not real, is he?" I was so caught off guard the first time he shouted it that I whispered, "If you believe in Santa, he's real in your heart." Oh yes. I did. What kind of cheesy answer is THAT for a 5 year old?!? Then as the line to meet Santa got closer, and he repeated the question AGAIN, I realized he meant that this particular Santa wasn't the real Santa. OH! That time, I told him that if this Santa wasn't the real Santa than he was one of his helpers. I mean seriously...this Santa didn't even smile for the pictures. Just 'cause we can't see your mouth, doesn't mean we can't tell that you're not smiling in your eyes, buddy!

Day 5 - Go to Home Depot's Kids Workshop to build wagons with Daddy. I changed Day 5's event at the last minute upon learning of the kids' workshop at Home Depot. I forget that they do this the first Saturday of each month and Mike and the kids really love it. Apparently, Ryan built 90% of his wagon all by himself!

Day 6 - Grandma's church Christmas kick off event w/ petting zoo and bounce houses. Pancakes, a bounce house, a petting zoo and Santa all over again...what more could a kid ask for on a Sunday morning?

Day 7 - Ice Cream Cone Christmas Tree craft. I apparently don't have the stock of white frosting that I thought I did because 2 minutes before craft-time, I realized I didn't have a main supply for this project. So I mixed up some powdered sugar and milk...which I found out makes icing, not frosting. Did you know there is a difference? Because I didn't. Icing is WAY too drippy for this craft.

The icing went back into the bowl, I added some softened butter and voila. Frosting. MUCH BETTER!

One of these days I'll get this mom-ing thing down!

Love the Christmas tree craft! We are just getting ready to do pinecone ornaments - I'll have to post pictures later. I love that you are doing one thing per day!
