I tend to ask for things that let me "escape" the mundane day-to-day:
- pedicure gift cards
- massage gift certificates
- coupons for free babysitting, house cleaning or other dreaded chores
- the promise of a "Mom's Day Off" to get caught up on my scrapbooking
- movie tickets
- restaurant gift cards (our dining and entertainment budgets are TINY)
- useful kitchen gadgets (things that clutter up my cabinets, not so much, but if I'll use it - great!)
- my favorite scrapbook or scrapbooking supplies
- practical things that I'll use often
- organizational tools
I'm all about functionality and usefulness. I'm not a true minimalist, but it pains me to go through a decluttering kick and donate past gifts that I know people spent their hard, earned money on.
Plus, being that "receiving gifts" is at the bottom of my love language list, the things that mean the most to me usually come home in the backpacks from school. The other day, Ryan had to draw a picture of something he does each season and for Spring, he drew a picture of himself picking me a flower. I mean really...it melted my heart.

What are some of your favorite gifts?

Hi Katie,
I have some of the same ideas as yours, gift cards to use. This year I requested a few new holiday items, seems I dont' have many Santa's but tons of snowman. My favorite gift cards are to Joann's and Kohl's, Giant Eagle. Since Becky Higgins is going to have her new album out soon that will also be my gift to myself. My husband always takes the kids out shopping for me and they always get me a candybar, big lotion bottle, slippers. I know it seems boring but I count on these things and it feels special everytime. The homemade stuff they bring home from school is always the best I agree.
By the way are you getting a new project life for next year, if so what color are you choosing?
Have a great weekend.
what a cute idea for a picture!!!
I love nice vouchers as well!!
I'm with you on the practical and experience type gifts. Those are absolutely my favorites.
And I'm glad to see that what I got you falls into one of the categories on your list. Now, doesn't THAT make you curious?! ;-)

Since my love language is acts of service, the best gift is my husband helping me around the house. Now, Kiddo would actually have to create a coupon or voucher or something for me to show him to remind him that that was the gift he gave me and I was collecting. : )
Oh, and Hobby Lobby gift cards are second. HA!
